How is response to rTMS assessed

In addition to the patient’s subjective reports regarding their response to treatment, the scales used include those recognized throughout the medical and research community as valid and reliable instruments for assessing depression and mood states including:

- Hamilton Depression Scale (HAM – D 17)

- Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAM – A).

These instruments are administered prior to the start of treatment, halfway through the treatment course and upon completion of a course of rTMS therapy.

Upon completion of the course of rTMS therapy, the patient will meet with the psychiatrist to discuss progress and recommendations for maintenance therapy. A progress report is sent to the referring physician or health care professional.
